In his encouragement for Timothy, Paul challenged him to “follow the pattern of the sound words that you have heard from me.” Paul had spent time mentoring Timothy and training him to lead the church. Now to this young pastor Paul challenges Timothy to pass this training on to the next generation as well. For the church to grow and be healthy there must be an ongoing mentorship.
